Detailed Itinerary |
Day 1 Amman Welcome to Jordan, rich in
archaeological sites, historical monuments and enormous
variety of spectacular scenery... Our representative will
meet you at the airport and transport you to your hotel in
Cairo. This evening you will meet your tour leader (and
fellow travellers), who will brief you about the next few
days of your journey.
Day 2 Amman, Jerash, Ajlun, Umm Qais After breakfast
we depart for ancient Gadara in Umm Qais, one of the
brilliant Greco-Roman cities in Jordan. Then we head to
Ajlun, an Islamic castle built high on a hill overlooking
the entire Jordan valley below. In the afternoon we drive
through the pine forests and olive groves to the ancient
Greco-Roman city of Jerash. Our guide will take us for a
tour through the collonnaded street, amphitheater, churches,
temples and the vast Roman Forum. We remain in Amman
overnight.
Day 3 Amman,Madaba, Mount Nebo, Mujib, Dead Sea, Dana Another
impressive day is awaiting us. After breaktast we depart for
Madaba and Mount Nebo, the highest point in the Moabit range
which has been a centre for pilgrimages since the earliest
Christian times. Madaba also holds the finest Byzantine
mosaics including the famous 6th century map of Palastine.
Then we drive via the Kings Highway to Wadi Al Mujib, a deep
and majestic cut through rugged highlands that drains into
the Dead Sea. Our day continues with a guided hike through
the magnificent gorge, abseiling down the waterfalls where
we enjoy the impressive nature of the natural reserve area.
Then we
make our way to the lowest point on
earth, Dead Sea for floating on the salty water. Dead Sea is
around 300 meters below the sea level and famous for its
healing mud.We remain overnight in Dana.
Day 4 Dana Natural Reserve, Dead Sea, Petra
After breakfast we depart for Dana Natural Reserve, one of
the most interesting spots in Jordan. After a hike and trek
to explore the natural attractions of this area, we proceed to Petra where we remain overnight.
Day 5 Petra, Wadi Rum Today we depart for a full day
tour in the Red Rose City Petra. We join an unforgettable
trip on horse back till the siq and then by foot till we
reach the Treasury. Our local guide provides us with a brief
history of the city, which is the greates attractions in the
Middle East. We also visit the Pharaoh's Castle, the
Triumphal arch and the Amphitheater. In the afternoon we
depart for the world famous Wadi Rum and check into our
desert camp. Dinner under the starry sky.
Day 6 Wadi Rum Today we join a Jeep safari in the
amazing desert and witness the beauties of the impressive
valley. Afternoon free to relax and enjoy the mystic
atmosphere. This evening we also enjoy another Jordanian
local dinner in Wadi Rum. After chilling out by the desert
fire and sharing our experiences with our travel mates, we
remain overnight in our desert camp.
Day 7 Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Nuweiba/Taba, Cairo After
breakfast we depart for Aqaba, the harbor of Jordan and an
important sea resort by the Red Sea. We board the ferry for
Egypt and arrive in Cairo, the city of
mysterious pyramids and pharaohs, tombs and temples and more
than 6000 years of history.
Day 8 Cairo
Free day in Cairo. This evening you will meet your tour leader (and fellow
travellers), who will brief you about the next few days of
your journey.
Day 9 Cairo The morning is spent visiting the Giza
Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of Cheops,
Chephren and Mycrenos. In the afternoon we will head our way
to Sakkara, the first capital of ancient Egypt, famous for
its step pyramid built by King Zoser in 2700 B.C. In the
evening we’ll board the overnight train to Aswan.
Day 10 Aswan Our day starts with the discovery of the
High Dam before visiting the Philae Temple - dedicated to
the Goddess Isis - and the unfinished Obelisk.
Day 11 Aswan, Felucca Cruise Today we board our
traditional Felucca to start our voyage on the Nile. We
first visit the Elephantine and Kitchener Islands and then
continue sailing north. We remain on the felucca overnight
where you’ll be treated to delicious local meals prepared by
the crew.
Day 12 Felucca Cruise Today we sail on the Nile all
day long and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of one of the
greatest rivers on Earth.
Day 13 Felucca Cruise, Komombo, Edfu, Luxor After
breakfast we will make our way to the Komombo Temple which
was built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. The temple
is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and god Horus. We
continue on to Edfu to visit the largest and best preserved
temple in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to the falcon god
Horus and was built over a 180-year period from 237 BC to 57
BC. We then set sail for Luxor. After cheking into our hotel,
we depart to visit the temple of Luxor on the East Bank of
the Nile which was dedicated to the great god Amun, his wife
Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god) - together
representing the Theban triad. The temple was built on the
site of a probable smaller structure for the god Amun, while
the earliest parts of the temple seen today date from the
14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III.
Day 14 Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Cairo
After breakfast we depart for the West Bank of the Nile
where our donkeys are waiting to take us into the Valley of
the Kings through quiet roads with captivating views of the
Nile. After the donkey ride, we start our explore this
magnificent site, “the city of the Dead”, where majestic
tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly,
and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the Pharaohs.
Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut will be our next stop. This
evening we board our overnight train to Cairo.
Day 15 Cairo Our journey continues with a visit to one of the
most important museums in the world, the Egyptian Museum,
which houses more than 100.000 relics of ancient Egypt.
Today we also explore the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of
Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn El
Khalili bazaar.
Day 16 Cairo Our trip ends after breakfast in Cairo.
