Detailed Itinerary |
Day 1 Cairo Welcome to Cairo, the city of
mysterious pyramids and pharaohs, tombs and temples and more
than 6000 years of history. Our representative will meet you
at the airport and transport you to your hotel in Cairo.
This evening you will meet your tour leader (and fellow
travellers), who will brief you about the next few days of
your journey.
Day 2 Cairo The morning is spent visiting the Giza
Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of Cheops,
Chephren and Mycrenos. In the afternoon we will head our way
to Sakkara, the first capital of ancient Egypt, famous for
its step pyramid built by King Zoser in 2700 B.C. In the
evening we’ll board the overnight train to Aswan.
Day 3 Aswan Our day starts with the discovery of the
High Dam before visiting the Philae Temple - dedicated to
the Goddess Isis - and the unfinished Obelisk.
Day 4 Aswan, Nile Cruise Today we board our 5 star
cruise boat to begin our voyage on the Nile. We first visit
the Elephantine and Kitchener Islands and then continue
sailing north. We overnight on the cruise boat and enjoy the
superb scenery from the deck of our floating hotel (meals
included).
Day 5 Nile Cruise, Komombo, Edfu Today we sail on the Nile all day
long and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of one of the
greatest rivers on Earth. Today we'll also visit Komombo and
Edfu.
Komombo Temple
was built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. The temple
is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and god Horus. Then
we continue to Edfu to visit the largest and best preserved
temple in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to the falcon god
Horus and was built over a 180-year period from 237 BC to 57
BC.
We remain on our 5 star cruise
boat for another overnight stay (meals included).
Day 6 Nile Cruise, Luxor Today we start sailing on the Nile in the morning and arrive in Luxor at night. We overnight on the cruise boat and enjoy the atmosphere of the Nile (meals included).
Day 7 Nile cruise, Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Karnak, Cairo
After breakfast we will disembark the Nile Cruise
boat and head to Luxor. We depart for the West Bank of the Nile
where our donkeys are waiting to take us into the Valley of
the Kings through quiet roads with captivating views of the
Nile. After the donkey ride, we start our exploration with this
magnificent site, “the city of the Dead”, where majestic
tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly,
and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the Pharaohs.
Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut will be our next stop.
We then depart to visit the temple of Luxor on the East Bank of
the Nile which was dedicated to the great god Amun, his wife
Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god) - together
representing the Theban triad. The temple was built on the
site of a probable smaller structure for the god Amun, while
the earliest parts of the temple seen today date from the
14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III. seen today
date from the 14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III.
Our last stop will be world famous Karnak Temple.
This
evening we board our overnight train to Cairo.
Day 8 Cairo Our journey continues with a visit to one of the
most important museums in the world, the Egyptian Museum,
which houses more than 100.000 relics of ancient Egypt.
Today we also explore the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of
Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn El
Khalili bazaar.
Day 9 Cairo, Suez Tunnel, Nuweiba, Dahab After
breakfast we depart for Nuweiba via the Suez Tunnel and
arrive in the small village by the Red Sea. Nuweiba is also
an important port for the ferries departing for Jordan. We
then contiune to Dahab, the
the leisure and activity centre of Egypt.
Day 10
to 13 Dahab Four full days to savour the sun,
sand, sea and to enjoy the activities available in Dahab :
windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, swimming, but above
all, snorkelling and diving. Jeep and camel safaris are also
available in this charming Red Sea resort.
Day 14 Dahab, Cairo Our last day in this fantastic
town. In the evening we board our overnight coach back to
Cairo.
Day 15 Cairo Our trip ends after breakfast in Cairo.
